"The ease and convenience of the Orchid Systems texts make them a pleasure to learn from. Having taken a previous introduction type course with a different text, I can honestly say that the Orchid Systems texts promote a better way of introducing and learning computers. "They provide a simple, yet in-depth, self-teaching method that not only teaches you what you need to know about the computer programme, but also makes you remember the commands you are using. The other text used gave a plethora of information; however, none of it was presented in a useful, organized way. The other text was wordy, confusing, and far too long to promote any way of recalling the information presented in a previous chapter. "The Orchid Systems text, on the other hand, presents the material in a concise, practical, and applicable manner. It provided me with the ability to use the command immediately (as opposed to reading 10 pages about it first!), which enabled me to better remember the command, as I was able to relate it to a practical application. "The gradual omission of commands the further I progressed into the text, provided me with the ability to apply what I had learned right away. In the event I couldn't recall a command, it was only a matter of flipping back two or three pages to find it, as opposed to riffling through the 10 previous chapters. "I have learned and retained more from the Orchid Systems texts than I did from the other texts I used. I would definitely recommend these texts over any others to any one not familiar with computers, and also to anyone who knows about computers, as the texts are not insulting to those with some computer skills."
